BRIDEGROOM Lee Boon Han and his entourage were quite a sight
recently as they skated from Centrepoint Shopping Centre to his
bride Aileen Hoe Wee May’s house in Bandar Utama.
The groom wore a pair of skates instead of dress shoes, and
skated the short distance with his entourage of about 20 guys to the
bride’s home.
The fun did not stop there as Hoe’s entourage put Lee’s entourage
through a series of challenges before Lee could greet his bride.`
Lee and his team had to perform various antics, including MTV-style
dancing on skates and brushing their teeth with wasabi.
“My wife proposed the idea of skating on our wedding day, as we
both used to skate during our school days at SM Damansara Utama,”
said Lee, a 27-year-old IT executive.

“Skating was a
huge trend then, so we used to skate for fun around our
neighbourhoods after school. We'd always wanted to incorporate the
things we like doing into our wedding,” he said.
“We'll also be singing for the guests during our dinner reception
as we both love to sing at karaoke joints.”
Hoe, a 26-year-old corporate finance consultant, said, “During
our courtship, there were several times when we were supposed to go
over to my house to hang out.
“Instead, he would drop himself off at home so that I could drive
his car back to my house.
He would then put on his skates and race me to my house!
“I used to freak out each time he suggested something crazy like
that although I am very supportive of his skating.”
The couple dated for one and a half years before getting engaged
in Sept 2006.
